Luca Di Gaspero
Luca Di Gaspero has been Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering at the University of Udine since 2005. He is member of the Scheduling and Timetabling Group at the Department of Electrical, Management and Mechanical Engineering, exploring the application of meta-heuristic techniques to real-world combinatorial optimization problems, mainly in the area of Scheduling, Timetabling and Computational Logistics. A major focus of his research is in boosting meta-heuristic techniques by their hybridization with other optimization methods, mainly in the area of Artificial Intelligence, such as Constraint Programming and Reinforcement Learning.
He received his MSc (1998) and his PhD (2002) from the University of Udine and he worked as a Research Assistant from 2003 to 2004 at the same University. During his PhD he has been a visiting student at the CWI in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 2011 he has been a visiting professor at the Technical University of Vienna, Austria.
He has authored or co-authored more than 80 refereed articles on international journals, books, and conference proceedings. Some bibliometric indicators of his research activity are: overall citations 855, h-index 14, g-index 27, citations per author, 387.97, citations per year 62.99 (updated February 2012). His research impact during years 2004-2008 is in the top 10%-25% (depending on the metric) of Italian researchers/professors in Computer Engineering.
